Tait has surgery and Parker has fall break

Tuesday was nothing but STRESS! Tait was scheduled to arrive at the hospital at 12:30 for hernia repair surgery. I had made arraignments for the kids to stay with a relative while I was with Tait at the hospital, however a few hours before we were to leave the plans changed and I needed to find someone else to watch the kids. My friend was able to watch them for a few hours then another friend's daughters came over and watched them for a few hours, then right before the kids were headed back to my first friend's home Tait and I came home. I'm so grateful that everyone was willing to help out on such short notice! Tait's surgery was fortunately very uneventful. It was fun seeing him drugged up before the nurses wheeled him back to the ER, I have never seen him like that. While Tait was in the recovery room one of the nurses came out to the waiting room and told me that 3 nurses tried to hold Tait down so they could remove his breathing tube, however he ended up pulling it out himself! I couldn't believe that they were talking about Tait. Needless to say, he had a sore throat for a few days.

On Wednesday I started taking a phonics class so I can help Tanner with his homework. Come to find out, now I have homework! Here are a few things that I have learned so far... anytime you see the letters eigh together it always makes the "A" sound, but if you see the letters igh together it will make the "I" sound, who knew? Give me a call and I can tell you 68 more phonograms.

Sunday was Tanner's birthday. It was a quiet day, but it was all about Tanner and I think he appreciated it. I had a fabulous idea for 1 of Tanner's birthday surprises, I was going to switch his bedroom to a new room, and completely redecorate it. I stayed up til 1:30 on Sunday morning sewing curtains, moving 3 beds, and all of the toys by myself, before I realized it was a bad idea. I went to bed completely discouraged, and a torn apart house. The next morning I moved all the furniture and toys back, and tried to fit the curtains on the new windows. Talk about a nightmare. Long story short, I still have a lot more work to do.

I love Tanner so much and I can't believe that I have had him for 6 years. I told him that I can't believe how fast he is growing, and he said, "yeah, me too". He is such a sweet boy, and I can't express how happy it makes me to be his mother.
